Accessibility
Our approach
Arabist targets WCAG 2.1 AA as a baseline. The interface is built with semantic HTML, keyboard-navigable components, visible focus states, and colour tokens that respect the operating-system dark-mode preference.
Right-to-left support
Arabic transcription output is rendered right-to-left with proper bidirectional handling. Glossary and translation views can be toggled between Arabic-first and target-language-first order.
Known limitations
- Manuscript images are visual by nature; alt text describes the file, not the manuscript content.
- Some complex admin tables are not yet fully optimised for screen-reader table navigation.
- Live regions on long-running jobs are experimental and may announce excessively during rapid updates.
Accommodations
